K-State Animal Sciences Leadership Academy
The K-State Department of Animal Sciences and Industry plans to host the K-State 
Animal Sciences Leadership Academy (KASLA) in June. There will be two sessions 
offered in 2022. The first session will be June 22-25, with the second scheduled for 
June 29-July 2. This year’s program will return to an in-person experience on campus.  The application deadline is April 15. Application forms and details 
are available under the K-State Animal Science Leadership 
Academy tab of the youth livestock program website. 


Johnson County 4-H Dog Club - Invitational Dog Show
Saturday, June 25, 2022
Johnson County Fairgrounds (136 E Washington St; Gardner, KS 66030)
On-Time Registration is due 6/18/22. Late and Walk In entries are welcome!
Registration Fee: 
On-Time fees are $10 each for Showmanship, Obedience, Rally-O and/or Agility per 4-her/dog team. Late and Walk In fees are $15 each for Showmanship, Obedience, Rally-O and/or Agility per 4-her/dog team.


The 2022 Dr. Bob Hines Kansas Youth Swine Classic will be hosted July 
1-2 at the Riley County Fairgrounds in CiCo Park in Manhattan. This
two-day event is comprised of educational opportunities, including a
swine skillathon, photography contest, showmanship, and a prospect
and market hog show. All Kansas youth ages 7 and older are invited to
exhibit. Entries must be submitted online by 5:00pm on June 15. Payment needs to be
postmarked by June 15 as well. The brochure, additional details, and the entry link

The Dog Conference is a great way for youth and adults to come together and participate in different project-based learning with their favorite dog friend. This year, the 2022 Conference theme is the Doggy Olympics. 4-Hers have the opportunity to send in t-shirt designs using the Doggy Olympics theme byJuly 1st, 2022.  The 4-Her who sends in the design that is selected to be turned into the conference-themed shirt gets free admission to the Conference October 22-23rd, 2022.  Send T-shirt design ideas to Aliah Mestrovich Seay at aliah@ksu.edu with the email subject title: 4-H DOG CONFERENCE T-SHIRT DESIGN. 


 Johnson County 4-H Dog Club - Rally-O & Agility Dog Show
When: Saturday, July 9, 2022
Where: Johnson County Fairgrounds (136 E Washington St; Gardner, KS 66030)
Registration: On-Time Registration is due 7/2/22. Late and Walk In entries are welcome!
Registration Fee: On-Time fees are $10 for Rally-O and/or Agility per 4-her/dog team. Late and Walk In fees are $15 Rally-O and/or Agility per 4-her/dog team.


Kansas 4-H Wheat Expo will be held Thursday, August 4 in St. John at the Stafford County Annex Building. 4-H members enrolled in Plant Science- Crops, Foods/Nutrition and Photography.  This would serve as an additional exhibit and project learning opportunity for those projects. This event will include tours of the Stafford County Flour Mill and tours of local vegetable operations who market to area grocers and larger farmers markets.  The contest component includes divisions in crops- 1- lb. bin run, 1-quart jar sample of cleaned wheat; foods- yeast rolls, cookies, muffins; photograpy- wheat photos; wheat educational posters and Cloverbuds.  Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded.  All exhibitors must be present to qualify for prizes.

Registration (via qualtrics) will open June 20 and will expire July 25.  Registration is $6/person payable at the door.

The State 4-H Horticulture Judging Contest is planned for Saturday, August 13, 2022 on the campus of Kansas
State University, Manhattan, KS. Registration information will be on the web by June 15! Agents you must
login to find registration information. Registration is due Monday, August 1. The study material is taken from
a variety of Healthy Yard Videos detailed on the Kansas 4-H Website on the Horticulture Judging Contest
page. There will also be some written study material which will be updated in May. Effective January 1, 2015,
contestants who have judged as an official team member at the National Junior Horticulture Association
Judging Contest are not eligible to compete as a team or as an individual at the State Kansas 4-H Horticulture
Judging Contest.


The Kansas 4-H Livestock Sweepstakes is being planned for August 20-21. This event 
includes the state 4–H livestock judging contest, meat judging contest, livestock 
skillathon, and quiz bowl, all in one, action-packed weekend.


The Kansas 4-H Sportfishing Tournament is available for youth in the Wildlife: Sportfishing project. This is something that can be done at their own pace throughout the year, helping engage them in project learning. The contest will end September 15, 2022. “Live Life in Full Bloom”Garden Symposium that the Leavenworth County Master Gardeners are sponsoring on Saturday, September 17, 2022. 8:30am-4:00pm. Cost is $45/ person. Lunch Box included. Tickets go on sale June 1st.
